Senate Bill 2643 amends Tennessee law regarding parent visitation by introducing a new section that allows courts to order additional periods of parenting time for a parent who has been denied visitation due to false allegations of abuse or neglect. If a parent can demonstrate that the other parent intentionally made false allegations, the court is required to compensate the affected parent with additional parenting time. This additional time is intended to restore lost parenting time and must not interfere with the child's school attendance or regular activities. The additional parenting time must be of the same type and duration as the denied time and must occur within two years from the date of the denial.

The bill also clarifies that it does not create a cause of action against the Department of Children's Services or any other agency, nor does it waive sovereign immunity. The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2026, and will apply to visitation orders denied on or after that date.
