Senate Bill 2187 amends Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-6-1021, to clarify the requirements for physical activity in schools. The bill specifies that physical activity must include unstructured outdoor play, unless adverse weather conditions prevent it. It also establishes that time spent using electronic devices or in physical education classes does not count towards this physical activity requirement.

Additionally, the bill introduces provisions allowing schools to deny students the privilege of participating in physical activities if they violate the school's discipline policy or engage in disruptive behavior. Teachers and administrators are granted the authority to remove students from physical activities as a disciplinary measure and to assign alternative lessons or activities aimed at improving student behavior. This legislation is set to take effect upon becoming law.
