Senate Bill 2080 amends Tennessee law to establish a new funding mechanism for TennCare reimbursements. Beginning July 1, 2026, the first $150 million of tax revenue collected under the health maintenance organization tax will be allocated to draw down federal funds for reimbursement to physicians, advanced practice registered nurses, and physician assistants. This reimbursement will specifically cover services related to evaluation and management, obstetrics and gynecology, or anesthesia, as defined by the relevant CPT codes.

Additionally, the bill stipulates that reimbursements will be set at up to 110% of the current Medicare reimbursement rate for the same CPT codes. The Bureau of TennCare and the Department of Commerce and Insurance are authorized to promulgate rules to implement this section, following the Uniform Administrative Procedures Act. The act will take effect upon becoming law for the purpose of rule-making, while the reimbursement provisions will be effective starting July 1, 2026, applying to services provided on or after that date.
