Senate Bill 1891, also known as House Bill 1927, amends the Education Freedom Act of 2025 by revising Section 4 of Chapter 7. The bill deletes the previous subsection (f) and replaces it with new provisions that establish a one-time bonus of at least $2,000 for teachers employed in local education agencies (LEAs) or public charter schools during the 2024-2025 school year. To qualify for this bonus, the local board of education or governing body must adopt a resolution and submit it to the department by June 1, 2026. If a teacher who was employed during that school year is no longer with the LEA or charter school when the funds are received, the bonus amount will be redistributed among the remaining eligible teachers.

Additionally, the bill clarifies that the term "teacher" is defined as "existing educator" according to the existing law. The act is set to take effect immediately upon becoming law, emphasizing the urgency of providing financial support to educators in the state.
