House Bill 2035, also known as Senate Bill 2056, amends Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 16, Chapter 2, to establish an additional criminal court in the thirtieth judicial district. Effective September 1, 2026, this new court, designated as part IX, will have a judge appointed by the governor who will serve until September 1, 2028, or until a successor is elected. The election for the judge of part IX will take place during the August 2028 general election, with the elected judge serving until September 1, 2030, after which judges will be elected for full eight-year terms.

Additionally, the bill removes subdivision (30)(D) from Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 16-2-506. The act is set to take effect upon becoming law, emphasizing the need for this change to enhance the judicial system in the thirtieth judicial district.
