House Joint Resolution 763, sponsored by Reneau, recognizes Siskin Steel & Supply Company, Inc. on the occasion of its 125th anniversary. Founded in 1900 in Chattanooga by Robert Siskin with a modest investment, the company initially focused on collecting and selling scrap metal. Following Robert's passing, his sons expanded the business in 1926 to include new steel, establishing it as a full-service metal supplier. The company has a strong commitment to public service, founding the Siskin Children's Institute in 1950 and the Siskin Hospital for Physical Rehabilitation in 1990.
Today, under the leadership of President Dan Youngman, Siskin Steel has grown to include locations in Nashville, Louisville, and Spartanburg, offering a wide range of metal products and processing services. The company has been recognized for its community contributions, receiving the Corporate Philanthropy Award from the Siskin Children's Institute in 2017. The resolution expresses congratulations to Siskin Steel & Supply Company for its long-standing success and contributions to the community, wishing it continued prosperity in the future.
