House Bill 1522 amends Tennessee Code Annotated, specifically Section 55-4-116, to introduce a new exemption for active military personnel stationed outside of Tennessee. Under the new subsection (c), members of the uniformed services who are renewing their registration for an all-electric vehicle will be exempt from any additional registration fees, provided they submit a copy of their official military orders at the time of renewal. This exemption applies only if the vehicle is titled and registered in the name of the service member, either solely or jointly with a spouse or lineal relative.

Additionally, the bill requests the Tennessee Code Commission to update the cross-reference in Section 55-6-107 to reflect the changes made in Section 1. The provisions of this act will take effect on July 1, 2026, and will apply to vehicle registrations renewed on or after that date.
