Senate Joint Resolution 540, sponsored by Lowe, honors the Walker Valley High School Lady Mustangs softball team for their remarkable achievement in winning the 2025 TSSAA Division I, Class 4A state championship, marking the first state title in the program's history. The team finished the season with an impressive overall record of 36-8, going undefeated in postseason play and securing multiple championships, including the District 5AAAA and Region 3AAAA titles. Their success in the state tournament included a notable come-from-behind victory in the finals against Green Hill High School.
In addition to their athletic accomplishments, the Lady Mustangs excelled academically, achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.81 during the spring and 3.92 in the fall. The team also demonstrated a commitment to community service through various volunteer efforts. The resolution acknowledges the leadership of Head Coach Lauren Limburg and Assistant Coach April Richards, and commends the players for their character, perseverance, and determination, which not only led to their championship success but also promises future achievements in their endeavors.
