Senate Joint Resolution 471, sponsored by Pody, honors and commends the employees of Nashville International Airport (BNA) and John C. Tune Airport (JWN) for their significant contributions to the state of Tennessee. The resolution highlights the essential roles these employees play in planning, engineering, operations, maintenance, safety, security, and administration, which are crucial for the airports' growth and expansion. Notably, they have successfully completed the BNA Vision I and II projects, a $1.5 billion initiative addressing the needs of a growing population and increasing passenger traffic, and are currently engaged in the New Horizon I and II projects, part of a $3 billion transformation to enhance airport facilities.
The resolution also acknowledges the employees' efforts in supporting regional, corporate, and private aviation at JWN, particularly in rebuilding after the 2020 tornadoes and expanding facilities to meet regional demands. Their work has led to over $360 million in participation from small, minority, and woman-owned businesses, contributing to an annual economic impact of over $10 billion and supporting more than 76,000 jobs in the region. The General Assembly expresses its appreciation for these employees' dedication and wishes them continued success and happiness.
