House Joint Resolution 641, sponsored by Maberry, honors Cadet Kenneth Darden for receiving the prestigious CSM Darol Walker Award from Austin Peay State University (APSU). This award recognizes a senior Army ROTC cadet who has excelled academically, militarily, and in extracurricular activities. Cadet Darden, a member of the Green to Gold Active Duty Option program at APSU, has an impressive military background, having served eleven years in the Army, including three deployments to Iraq, and has held various leadership roles within his units. He has also maintained a strong academic record with a 3.7 GPA while pursuing a bachelor's degree in leadership science.
In addition to his academic achievements, Cadet Darden has been actively involved in campus life, serving as APSU's Fall 2024 Homecoming King and participating in the Student Government Association and as a Governors Ambassador. He is the captain of the Ranger Challenge Team, which recently placed third in a competitive event at Fort Knox, Kentucky. The resolution expresses the General Assembly's congratulations to Cadet Darden for his commitment to excellence and service to the state of Tennessee, wishing him continued success in his future endeavors.
