House Joint Resolution 629, sponsored by Hemmer, recognizes and commends The Harding Art Show as it celebrates its fiftieth anniversary on May 13, 2025. Since its inception in 1975, the show has grown to become one of the largest and most profitable fine art exhibitions in the southeastern United States, showcasing over seventy-five artists from across the country. The event not only highlights diverse artistic talent but also serves as Harding Academy's primary fundraising initiative, attracting more than 5,000 visitors over three days and promoting community engagement through various activities, including a designated Family Day.
The resolution emphasizes the significance of The Harding Art Show in enriching Tennessee's cultural landscape and supporting arts education at Harding Academy. It acknowledges the contributions of the show's organizers and the featured artist, Laura McCarty, whose work reflects the spirit of the Harding community. The General Assembly expresses its best wishes for the continued success of The Harding Art Show in the years to come.
