House Joint Resolution 552, sponsored by Boyd, honors Dorothy Steffen as she prepares to celebrate her 100th birthday on October 6, 2025. Born in Cuba, Missouri, in 1925, Dorothy grew up on a family farm and later graduated from high school in Rolla, Missouri. She married Lee Steffen in 1945, and together they raised four sons while Reverend Steffen served in various churches across Nebraska, Iowa, and Florida. After his passing in 2008, Dorothy continued to live independently until a fall in 2023 led her to move to Tennessee to live with her son, Paul.
The resolution recognizes Dorothy's rich life filled with love, faith, and family, highlighting her role as a devoted homemaker and pastor's wife. She is a proud matriarch with nine grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. The resolution expresses the General Assembly's best wishes for her continued happiness and success as she celebrates this significant milestone in her life.
