Coach Burkley has been a prominent figure in the school's athletic program since 2002, initially coaching the Lady Tigers and later taking on the boys' team in 2009. Under his leadership, both teams have experienced significant success, including six state tournament berths, three appearances in the state championship game, and a state championship victory for the Lady Tigers in 2015.

The resolution acknowledges Coach Burkley's contributions to the sport and his ability to motivate young athletes, attributing his success to the support of his players, coaching staff, school administration, family, and faith.
