Born on the same date in 1955 in Drummonds, Tennessee, she is recognized as the first woman in her family to attend college, earning her degree from Tennessee State University in 1978 and a master's degree from Trevecca Nazarene University in 1992. Mrs. Degrafinreid began her teaching career at Brighton Elementary School, focusing on math for at-risk students, and later taught in various schools throughout Memphis.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Patricia is celebrated for her dedication to her family, including her late husband Alfred and their three children, as well as her active role in her community and church. As she approaches this significant milestone, the resolution acknowledges her positive influence, wisdom, and spirit of generosity.
