Senate Joint Resolution 191, sponsored by Senator Gardenhire, honors Wyatt Davis for his remarkable achievement in winning the 2025 TSSAA Class A wrestling state championship in the 144-pound weight class. This victory marks a historic milestone as he becomes the first individual state champion in any sport for Whitwell High School. In a thrilling final match, Davis overcame a 6-0 deficit against an opponent with an impressive 51-0 season record, ultimately securing an 11-8 decision. His journey to the championship was challenging, as he faced five returning state placers and won his final two matches against wrestlers with a combined record of 108-4.

In addition to his wrestling success, Wyatt Davis has also excelled in football, contributing significantly to the Whitwell Tigers with 17 touchdowns and 162 tackles over the past three seasons. He attributes his achievements to hard work, perseverance, and the guidance of his coach, Thomas Argo. The resolution expresses pride in Davis's accomplishments and hopes that his legacy will inspire more students to participate in the wrestling program at Whitwell High School. The Senate and House of Representatives commend Wyatt Davis for his dedication and wish him continued success in future competitions.
