House Bill 1417 amends the election, compensation, and qualifications of the City Judge of Tullahoma. The bill extends the term of the current City Judge, who was elected under Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 16-18-203, for an additional year, moving the expiration date from August 2025 to the first Thursday in August 2026. Following this extension, the City Judge will be elected concurrently with the Board of Mayor and Aldermen during biannual municipal elections held on the first Thursday in August of even-numbered years. The City Judge will serve an eight-year term, with elections occurring every eight years thereafter. The compensation for the City Judge will be determined by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen through ordinance.

Additionally, the bill specifies that the City Judge must be a practicing attorney in good standing, have been a resident of Tullahoma for at least one year prior to the election, and maintain their domicile in the city. The bill includes a severability clause, ensuring that if any provision is found invalid, the remaining provisions will still be effective. The act will only take effect upon receiving a two-thirds vote of approval from the legislative body of Tullahoma.
