Senate Joint Resolution 171, sponsored by Haile, honors School Resource Officer (SRO) Chris Jennings of the Sumner County Sheriff's Office for his exemplary service and dedication to school-based policing. Recently recognized by the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) for achieving Practitioner status, SRO Jennings has demonstrated a commitment to the safety and well-being of students and the community. His qualifications include over three years of experience as an SRO, completion of extensive training, and active participation in school safety initiatives.

SRO Jennings has a distinguished law enforcement background, having served for 30 years in various roles, including detective sergeant and K-9 unit supervisor, before relocating to Sumner County. He has spent the last four years at Robert E. Ellis Middle School, where he has taken on leadership roles and contributed to the development of fellow deputies. In addition to his law enforcement credentials, he is a licensed school counselor and holds degrees in social and criminal justice and education. The resolution expresses the General Assembly's pride in his accomplishments and extends best wishes for his future endeavors.
