Senate Joint Resolution 148, sponsored by McNally, commends The Ayers Foundation on its twenty-fifth anniversary for its significant contributions to improving the quality of life for Tennesseans. Founded by Jim Ayers in 1999, the foundation addresses educational disparities by providing scholarships and support to students in need, particularly in Henderson, Perry, and Decatur counties. Over its first decade, the foundation awarded more than 3,000 scholarships and has since expanded its reach to serve students across all three Grand Divisions of Tennessee, now impacting thirty-three high schools in twenty-one counties.
In addition to its scholarship programs, The Ayers Foundation supports various initiatives, including the Ayers Entrepreneur Center and the Ayers Children's Medical Center, among others. The resolution recognizes the foundation's ongoing commitment to education and community development, highlighting its role in enhancing opportunities for young people and fostering innovation in Tennessee. The Senate and House of Representatives express their appreciation for the foundation's dedicated service over the past twenty-five years.
