She has also played a vital role in supporting youth in foster care, ensuring they receive necessary resources and advocacy, particularly through her Operation Sleep and Snacks initiative, which raised over $10,000 for foster youth in 2023.

The resolution acknowledges Dr. Owens-Griffin's dedication to public service and her leadership within the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, where she currently serves as president of the Alpha Alpha Gamma Omega Chapter.
