ON MARCH 31, 2025, THE SENATE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED SENATE BILL 882, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #1 makes the following revisions:  Clarifies that LeadingAge Tennessee and Argentum are two examples of interested groups that may submit qualified persons for consideration by the governor for appointment as a representative of the assisted-care living facility industry on the health facilities commission ("commission").  Requires, no later than January 1, 2027, the commission to ensure the date of the most recent inspection for each licensed nursing home is no more than 15 months prior to December 31, 2026.  Requires, no later than June 1, 2025, the commission to submit a report to the chief clerk of each house of the general assembly on how the commission will comply with the timeliness of the inspections described above.  Requires the commission to negotiate with the federal centers for medicare and medicaid services to secure the procedural flexibility the commission deems necessary to effectively and efficiently regulate the commission, including securing a block grant waiver amendment.  Requires, on or before January 31, 2026, the commission to submit a report on the progress of the negotiations described above to the speaker of the senate, the speaker of the house of representatives, the chair of the senate health and welfare committee, and the chair of the committee in the house of representatives with subject matter jurisdiction over health-related matters.
