ON MARCH 24, 2025, THE SENATE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED SENATE BILL 554, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #1 rewrites this bill to enact the "Tennessee Physician Workforce Information Act," which requires the department of health to do the following: (1) Contact qualified medical organizations in Tennessee and request information from such organizations concerning the state of the physician workforce in Tennessee, as described in the full text of this amendment; (2) Compile the information collected pursuant to (1) into a written report; (3) By December 31, 2025, submit a preliminary report and an update on the progress of the final report to the chairperson of the health and welfare committee of the senate and the chairperson of the committee in the house of representatives having jurisdiction over health-related matters; and (4) By December 31, 2026, submit the final report to the chairpersons identified in (3). This amendment specifies that the preliminary and final reports must include the list of participating organizations and the findings or recommendations from the participating organizations.
