For policies or contracts for insurance that are entered into, issued, delivered, amended, or renewed on or after July 1, 2025, this bill generally provides that the following benefits are exempt from a requirement to provide coverage for a specific person, provider, treatment, service, condition, or disease, unless coverage of such benefit is expressly required by law: Coverage only for accident or disability income insurance, or any combination of accident and disability income insurance; Coverage issued as a supplement to liability insurance; Liability insurance, including general liability insurance and automobile liability insurance; Workers' compensation or similar insurance; Automobile medical payment insurance; Credit-only insurance; Coverage for on-site medical clinics; Other similar insurance coverage, specified in regulations, under which benefits for medical care are secondary or incidental to other insurance benefits; Benefits, if offered separately, that are (i) limited scope dental or vision benefits; (ii) benefits for long-term care, nursing home care, home health care, community-based care, or any combination of long-term care, nursing home care, home health care and community-based care; and (iii) other similar, limited benefits specified in regulations; Benefits, if offered as independent, noncoordinated benefits, that are coverage only for a specified disease or illness and hospital indemnity or other fixed indemnity insurance; and Benefits, if offered as a separate insurance policy, that are medicare supplement insurance, coverage supplemental to the coverage provided under federal law, and similar supplemental coverage provided to coverage under a group health plan.
