Senate Bill 379, sponsored by Walley, mandates the Tennessee Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations (TACIR) to conduct a comprehensive study on the impact of the state's firearm laws across various counties. The study will focus on three key areas: firearm sales, criminal offenses, and the use of firearms for self-defense. Additionally, the bill requires TACIR to identify any similarities or differences in the impacts observed in these areas. To facilitate this study, all relevant state departments and agencies are instructed to assist TACIR.

The findings from this study are to be compiled into a report, which TACIR must deliver to each member of the General Assembly and provide a copy to the legislative librarian by January 1, 2026. The report may be submitted electronically. The act is set to take effect immediately upon becoming law, emphasizing the importance of public welfare in its implementation.
