House Joint Resolution 55, sponsored by Lamberth, honors Larry Riggsbee of Sumner County for his exceptional service to the children of Tennessee through his role as the Transportation Director for Sumner County Schools for over thirty years. Under his leadership, Riggsbee maintained an outstanding safety record, ensuring that no child was injured or fatally harmed during transportation. His commitment to pupil safety and transportation excellence has earned him respect among his peers and recognition in the industry.
In addition to his direct contributions to student transportation, Riggsbee founded the Tennessee Association of Pupil Transportation in 1982 and continues to serve as its executive director. His dedication to the field was further acknowledged when he was inducted into the National Association of Pupil Transportation Hall of Fame in October 2024, becoming only the second Tennessean to receive this honor. The resolution expresses the General Assembly's appreciation for Riggsbee's lifetime of distinguished service and contributions to the safety and well-being of students in Tennessee.
