Under present law, there are several offices and entities that are not applicable to the laws regarding state service. These offices and entities include, but are not limited to, the legislative branch of state government, the judicial branch of state government, the office of the secretary of state, and the office of the state treasury. This bill adds to such list (i) the Tennessee sports wagering council and its employees, (ii) full-time board members of the board of parole, and (iii) full-time board members of the inmate disciplinary oversight board. BEREAVEMENT LEAVE Present law requires the officers and employees of the various agencies, boards, and departments of state government to be granted three days paid leave in the event of death of such officers' or employees' spouse, children, stepchildren, parents, siblings, grandparents, grandchildren, stepparents, foster parents, or parents-in-law without charge to the affected officers' or employees' accumulated leave accounts. This bill expands the leave granted above by granting (i) three days paid leave in the event of death of such officers' or employees' siblings, grandparents, grandchildren, foster parents, or parents-in-law, (ii) five days paid leave in the event of death of such officers' or employees' parents or stepparents, and (iii) 10 days paid leave in the event of death of such officers' or employees' spouse, children, or stepchildren.
