HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 1498

A RESOLUTION to commend the Memphis Police Department and the Shelby County District Attorney.
WHEREAS, on April 20, 2024, a mass shooting at an unpermitted Orange Mound block party claimed the lives of two people and injured seven others; and WHEREAS, the Memphis Police Department and the Shelby County District Attorney have announced their intention to seek federal charges against those persons responsible for the shootings; and WHEREAS, Interim Police Chief CJ Davis has enlisted the help of both federal officials and community members to assist in the timely apprehension of the perpetrators in order to
bring justice to the victims of the deadly shooting; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
THIRTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
CONCURRING, that we commend the Memphis Police Department and the Shelby County District Attorney for their decisive and swift actions in the Orange Mound mass shooting investigation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
