House Joint Resolution 1473, sponsored by Representative Hawk, honors the legacy of Steed College, a private institution founded in July 1940 by Dr. C.C. Steed and his wife, Mollie Marable Steed. Initially established as the Elizabethton School of Business, the college underwent several name changes and relocations, ultimately becoming Steed College. Throughout its history, the college expanded its academic offerings, achieving accreditation and providing various degree programs in fields such as Accounting, Business Administration, and Computer Technology.

After 42 years of service to the East Tennessee community, Steed College ceased operations on September 9, 1982. The resolution reflects on the institution's significant contributions to education in the region and expresses respect for its enduring impact on the lives of its students and the community. The resolution concludes with a directive for an appropriate copy to be prepared for presentation.
