HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 1465

A RESOLUTION to recognize Captain Danny Hurst of the Sumner County Sheriff's Office on the occasion of his retirement.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate that the members of this General Assembly should honor those citizens who have performed with uncommon devotion and enthusiasm throughout their careers in law enforcement; and WHEREAS, Captain Danny Hurst of the Sumner County Sheriff's Office is one such estimable individual, who has devoted his life to the preservation of law and order and the protection of his fellow citizens; and WHEREAS, after more than forty-five years in law enforcement, Captain Hurst will soon take his much-deserved retirement, having dedicated himself to the highest tenets of public service and law enforcement throughout his career; and WHEREAS, Captain Danny Hurst began his exemplary career in law enforcement with the Portland Police Department in June of 1978; he transferred to the Gallatin Police Department on September 2, 1982; and WHEREAS, Captain Hurst began his illustrious tenure with the Sumner County Sheriff's Office on September 2, 1994, and since that time, he has displayed exceptional leadership and professionalism, rising through the ranks of sergeant, detective, lieutenant, and finally to
captain; and WHEREAS, his duty assignments with the Sumner County Sheriff's Office include service as an agent with the 18th Judicial District Drug Task Force, in which position he
demonstrated his expertise in combating drug-related crimes; and WHEREAS, Captain Hurst has overseen the operations of a number of departments and divisions of the Sumner County Sheriff's Office, including Patrol Operations, Training, Court Security, Animal Control, Warrants, Records, and the School Resource Officer Division; and HJR1465

WHEREAS, due to his leadership, the School Resource Officer Division of the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office was recognized by the National Association of School Resource Officers as the Model SRO Division in the nation, a testament to his dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of students; and WHEREAS, Captain Danny Hurst has performed his duties with professionalism and integrity, helping his fellow citizens in any way that he could and proving himself time and again to be a tremendous asset to the Sumner County Sheriff's Office; and WHEREAS, Captain Hurst exemplifies the spirit and allegiance to community that are characteristic of a true Tennessean; and WHEREAS, throughout his estimable career, Captain Danny Hurst has demonstrated the utmost ability, winning the sincere respect and admiration of his colleagues and the citizens of Sumner County; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
THIRTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
CONCURRING, that we honor and commend Captain Danny Hurst on his exemplary career with the Sumner County Sheriff's Office and extend to him our best wishes for much continued success and happiness during his retirement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
