SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 1587

A RESOLUTION to congratulate Jason Britton of North Greene High School upon being named Boys' Basketball Co-Player of the Year by The Greeneville Sun.
WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should recognize those incredibly successful student athletes who have distinguished themselves as inspirational leaders among their peers; and WHEREAS, one such individual is Jason Britton, who was recently named The Greeneville Sun's Boys' Basketball Co-Player of the Year, based upon his outstanding performance on the hardwood during the 2023-2024 season; and WHEREAS, a student at North Greene High School, Mr. Britton helped take the Huskies to the state tournament, thanks to his 1,087 points; he led the team in nearly every statistical category—averaging 29.3 points, earning a 36.5 percent average from the three-point line, and bringing down an average of 6.4 rebounds per game; and WHEREAS, in December 2023, he became the leading scorer for boys' basketball in
Greene County; in January, he became the all-time leading scorer in North Greene history; in February, he became District 1-A's all-time leading scorer; and later that same month, he became the all-time leading scorer in Greene County history in either girls' or boys' basketball;
and WHEREAS, Jason Britton finished his high school basketball tenure with 2,958 career points, becoming Northeast Tennessee's all-time leading scorer; and WHEREAS, Mr. Britton exemplifies the spirit, determination, and perseverance for which Tennesseans are notable, and he is richly deserving of our approbation; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRTEENTH
GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF
REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we honor and congratulate Jason Britton of North Greene High School upon being named Boys' Basketball Co-Player of the Year by The Greeneville Sun and wish him much continued success both on and off the court.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
