HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 1466

A RESOLUTION to honor and congratulate Eiman Jahangir, MD,
MPH, on his selection as a Blue Origin and MoonDAO Astronaut.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate that we recognize those intrepid individuals whose boundless curiosity and steadfast determination serve as a shining example for us all; and WHEREAS, Eiman Jahangir, MD, MPH, is one such Tennessean, who has been selected as MoonDAO's second citizen astronaut to fly to space aboard a future Blue Origin New Shepard rocket; and WHEREAS, born in Tehran, Iran, Eiman Jahangir moved to Nashville at the age of four,
and his childhood fascination with space led him to pursue a career in medicine and space exploration; and WHEREAS, Dr. Jahangir attended Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet High School, known for its focus on math and engineering, before earning a Bachelor of Arts degree at George Washington University and a medical doctorate from the University of Tennessee; he completed his medical training at Boston University Medical Center and Vanderbilt University, specializing in cardiovascular medicine; and WHEREAS, Eiman Jahangir has pursued his interest in human space flight for more than fifteen years, including two finalist interviews for NASA's Astronaut Candidate program,
and he has always dreamed about going to space; and WHEREAS, he has received training in various aspects of space exploration and served as the medical officer for the Inclusion 1 mission at Biosphere 2's Space Analog for the Moon and Mars; and HJR1466

WHEREAS, an associate professor at Vanderbilt University, Dr. Jahangir is the author of
over forty published peer-reviewed manuscripts and continues to regularly conduct research;
clinically, he is a cardio-oncologist helping people who have cardiovascular side effects from cancer treatments; and WHEREAS, Dr. Eiman Jahangir's unfailing dedication and perseverance have enabled him to reach beyond the horizon, and he should be specially commended on his impressive and inspiring career as a space and cardio-oncology physician; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
THIRTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
CONCURRING, that we honor and congratulate Eiman Jahangir, MD, MPH, on his selection as
a Blue Origin and MoonDAO Astronaut and extend to him our best wishes for much continued success in his future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
