SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 1572

A RESOLUTION to recognize Billy Ray Martin on the occasion of
his retirement.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate that the members of this General Assembly should honor those citizens who have performed with uncommon devotion and enthusiasm throughout their years of service; and WHEREAS, Billy Ray Martin is one such estimable individual, who has served with distinction for an incredible fifty-two years as coach of the Twins Little League baseball team of
the Morristown Parks and Recreation Department; and WHEREAS, the Morristown Parks and Recreation Department honored Mr. Martin and his contributions to the league by retiring his beloved Twins; and WHEREAS, Billy Martin began his coaching career with the Twins Little League team in
1971, and he never missed a season through 2023; during his impressive tenure, he won a lot of games, some titles, and a state championship, qualifying for the Southeast Region Tournament in Florida; and WHEREAS, for his magnificent performance on the diamond, Mr. Martin was named to
the Parks and Recreation Hall of Fame in 1984, after which he coached another thirty-nine seasons; and WHEREAS, Billy Martin exemplifies the spirit and allegiance to family and community that are characteristic of a true Tennessean; and WHEREAS, throughout his estimable coaching career, Mr. Martin demonstrated the utmost professionalism, ability, and integrity, winning the respect and admiration of his community; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRTEENTH
GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF
REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we extend to Billy Ray Martin our heartfelt wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement and every continued success in his future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
