SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 1568

A RESOLUTION to honor the memory of Jewel White of
Jonesborough.
WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly were greatly saddened to learn of
the passing of Jewel White; and WHEREAS, Jewel White was an exemplary public servant and consummate professional who worked assiduously to improve the quality of life for her fellow citizens in
numerous capacities; and WHEREAS, born on June 25, 1946, Jewel White was the daughter of John and Vada Broyles and earned her Master of Education degree from Tusculum University; and WHEREAS, Jewel White served with acumen and alacrity as an educator for many years, in which position she earned the respect of her peers and her students for the exemplary quality of her work, having gone above and beyond in caring for the generations of children she taught; and WHEREAS, Mrs. White was also deeply devoted to her family, and she always endeavored to remain true to family values of the highest order; and WHEREAS, Mrs. White enjoyed the loving companionship of her devoted husband, Don White, and was the proud mother of Tom (Martha) Deaderick, Chris (Frieda) Deaderick, and Patty (Jerry) Davis, and loving grandmother of Zachary (Leslie) Deaderick, Ian (Deondra)
Deaderick, Colton Deaderick, Shane (Ashley) Atkins, Garrett Deaderick, Kaleigh Deaderick,
Kristin Lupori, and Brittney Atkins (Jeremy), and several great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, she will be sadly mourned but fondly remembered by her sisters, Jane
(Gaines) Cox, Vicky (Chris) Correll, Sherry (Lawrence) Barker, and Pam (Roger) McBride; and WHEREAS, Mrs. White was preceded in death by her parents and by her grandson,
Tommy Trobaugh, and his wife, Akita Trobaugh; and SJR1568

WHEREAS, Jewel White leaves behind an indelible legacy of integrity and probity in
public life, compassion and loyalty in private life, and diligence and dedication in all her chosen endeavors; and WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should pause to
remember the bountiful life of this exceptional public servant and human being; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRTEENTH
GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF
REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we honor the memory of Jewel White, reflecting fondly upon her impeccable character and her stalwart commitment to living the examined life with courage and conviction.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we express our sympathy and offer our condolences to the family of Mrs. White.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
