HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 1435

A RESOLUTION to honor the memory of John Allen Elias on the occasion of a segment of U.S. Highway 31 being named in his honor.
WHEREAS, the late John Allen Elias was a well-respected veteran, business owner, and resident of Columbia and Maury County; and WHEREAS, Mr. Elias succeeded in business as the owner of Elias Construction Company, Inc., Elias Golf Cart, and Maury Fence Company; and WHEREAS, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during Vietnam; and WHEREAS, Mr. Elias expressed his robust faith as a member of Graymere Church of
Christ; and WHEREAS, a devoted family man, Mr. Elias is survived by his wife of sixty years, Ann Angus Elias; two children, Leah Elias (Bill) Fuller and Scott Allen (Monica) Elias; and several grandchildren; and WHEREAS, this General Assembly has passed legislation to designate U.S. Highway 31
in Maury County from its intersection with Unity Lane to its intersection with Morrow Lane as the
"Allen Elias Memorial Highway" in honor of Mr. Elias's life of purpose and commitment to others;
and WHEREAS, it is fitting that this General Assembly should commemorate the life of this exceptional gentleman on this special occasion; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
THIRTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
CONCURRING, that on the occasion of a segment of U.S. Highway 31 in Maury County being HJR1435

named in his honor, we honor the memory of John Allen Elias, reflecting fondly upon his impeccable character and his many contributions to his community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
