HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 1410

A RESOLUTION to honor the memory of Anita C. Clark of
Kingsport.
WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly were greatly saddened to learn of
the passing of Anita C. Clark; and WHEREAS, Anita Clark was a beloved member of her community who worked assiduously to improve the quality of life for her fellow citizens in numerous capacities; and WHEREAS, born in Havana, Cuba, in 1932, Anita Clark was the only child of Mario Contreras and Enriquetta Peres Galle Contreras; and WHEREAS, growing up in Havana, Cuba, Mrs. Clark was educated at Mercy Academy;
and WHEREAS, in 1955, Anita Clark married the love of her life, Lucas Antonio Clark, Jr.,
and they shared an amazing life and love together for fifty-seven years; and WHEREAS, Anita and Lucas Clark left communist Cuba in October 1960 and moved to
the United States to experience freedom and a better life for their family; here, Anita Clark experienced the many joys of raising a family free of oppression and was loved and admired for her strength and fortitude by her family and her many friends; and WHEREAS, passionate about her family and faith, Mrs. Clark was a devoted and faithful wife, a loving and supportive mother, and a caring and generous grandmother and great-
grandmother; and WHEREAS, left to cherish her memory are her four children, Lucas A. Clark III, Juan
"John" Mario (Etta) Clark, Charles Edward (Cheryl) Clark, and Anne Marie Clark (Larry)
Hoffman; seven grandchildren, Lucas A. (Brittany) Clark IV, Lisa Catherine Clark, Michael William (Katie) Clark, Alexandra Clark (Scott) Dillie, Haley Clark (Richard) Bird, Cela Clark, and Charelzie Clark; and six great-grandchildren, Quinn Clark, Juliette Clark, Scarlett Clark, Collette Clark, Sophia Mae Clark, and Clark Emerson Dillie; and HJR1410

WHEREAS, she was preceded in death by her mother and father and her beloved husband; and WHEREAS, throughout her many endeavors in both public and private life, Anita Clark distinguished herself as a devoted citizen whose love and compassion knew no bounds; and WHEREAS, it is most fitting that we should pay tribute to her bountiful life of purpose and service; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
THIRTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
CONCURRING, that we honor the memory of Anita C. Clark, reflecting fondly upon her impeccable character and her stalwart commitment to living the examined life with courage and conviction.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we express our sympathy and offer our condolences to the family of Mrs. Clark.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
