HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 1386

A RESOLUTION to recognize Gary Farley on the occasion of his retirement.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate that we should honor those citizens who have performed with uncommon devotion and enthusiasm throughout their years of public service; and WHEREAS, Gary Farley is one such estimable individual, who recently took his much-
deserved retirement as assistant commissioner of Fire Prevention after rendering thirteen years of dedicated service as an employee of the State of Tennessee; and WHEREAS, Mr. Farley came on board with the State in 2011 as director of the Fire Prevention Division's Electrical, Residential, and Marina Inspections Section, overseeing the successful launch and completion of the State's first public marina inspection program; and WHEREAS, a longtime resident of Murfreesboro, Mr. Farley began his career as a firefighter for the City of Murfreesboro in 1984; in 1994, he was promoted to assistant fire chief for the city's Fire Rescue Department, and in 1998, he was promoted once again, this time to
serve as operations chief; and WHEREAS, his service to his community also includes serving as a Rutherford County Commissioner from 1994 to 2014 and as a member of the Rutherford County Planning Commission from 2006 to 2010; he currently serves on the Rutherford County Board of Zoning Appeals; and WHEREAS, Gary Farley exemplifies the spirit and allegiance to family and community that are characteristic of a true Tennessean; and WHEREAS, throughout his years of service, Mr. Farley has demonstrated the utmost professionalism, ability, and integrity, winning the respect and admiration of the residents of
Rutherford County and this State; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
THIRTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
CONCURRING, that we extend to Gary Farley our heartfelt wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement and every continued success in his future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
