SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 1497

A RESOLUTION to commend Naomi Israel for exemplary service as a legislative intern.
WHEREAS, each legislative session, this body is pleased to recognize certain persons who have committed themselves, through their adroit service, to the betterment of the legislative process; and WHEREAS, Naomi Israel is one such individual who has distinguished herself in her role as a legislative intern for Senator Steve Southerland; Naomi's work has resulted in innumerable benefits for the legislators she assisted, Chairman Southerland and the members and staff of
the Senate Energy, Agriculture, and Natural Resources Committee, and the General Assembly as a whole; and WHEREAS, a student at Belmont University, where she is highly regarded by her peers,
Naomi Israel has achieved academic success while pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in
Political Science with a minor in Public Relations and participating in numerous extracurricular activities; and WHEREAS, she currently serves the Office of Admissions as a Bruin Recruiter and is a member of Belmont's TISL delegation; and WHEREAS, Ms. Israel is an active member of Belmont's speech and debate team and has won several team and individual awards at both the state and national levels; and WHEREAS, Naomi also thrives in the classroom and has been named to Belmont University's Dean's List in each of her five semesters thus far; and WHEREAS, after graduation, she plans to pursue a career in political communications;

WHEREAS, Ms. Israel is originally from Danville, Kentucky, and her family remains an
active part of her life; her support system back home includes her mother, Carla Coleman, as well as her five brothers and two sisters; and WHEREAS, a young lady of many talents, Naomi makes an excellent caramel cream pie, and when she brought one of her creations to the office for Pi Day, Senator Southerland and his staff were quite impressed, and hungry; and WHEREAS, eager to familiarize herself with the characteristics and complexities of
Tennessee State government and to further her studies, Naomi Israel brought her many abilities and singular expertise to Capitol Hill for the 2024 session of the One Hundred Thirteenth General Assembly; and WHEREAS, throughout the 2024 legislative session, Naomi Israel has surpassed all criteria that define a devoted and conscientious legislative intern; and WHEREAS, she has performed her many duties with extraordinary insight and rare decorum; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRTEENTH
GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF
REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we hereby commend Naomi Israel for outstanding service as a legislative intern for Senator Steve Southerland and extend to her our best wishes for every future success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
