SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 1492

A RESOLUTION to honor Sandy Elliott, Ms. Wilson County Senior Tennessee.
WHEREAS, it is wholly fitting that we recognize those laudable citizens who represent this State with integrity and decorum, ambassadors who embody the values and virtues that Tennesseans hold dear; and WHEREAS, one such individual is Sandy Elliott, who was crowned Ms. Wilson County Senior Tennessee for 2023, an honor most befitting her timeless grace and elegance, and will proudly represent Wilson County in the Ms. Tennessee Pageant this May; and WHEREAS, a music educator and choir director for twenty-three years, Sandy Elliott has served as choral director at Mt. Juliet High School for twenty-two years and currently serves as
Director of Choirs and Assistant Professor of Music at Cumberland University; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Elliott is a classically trained vocalist and has over thirty-five years of
experience in theater and musical theater in addition to being a private voice teacher and vocal coach for over twenty-five years; and WHEREAS, she graduated from Cumberland College, where she earned her Associate of Music degree, and holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Samford University,
a Master of Church Music in Vocal Pedagogy from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary,
and a Master of Arts in Education/Instructional Leadership from Cumberland University; and WHEREAS, a 2020 CMA Foundation Music Teacher of Excellence, she has professional affiliation with NAfME, TNMEA, ACDA, and Delta Omicron, and she has served as the TMEA
Choral Chair, the Freshman Honors Choir Chair, and president and Advocacy Chair for the Middle Tennessee Vocal Association; and SJR1492

WHEREAS, her many professional accomplishments aside, Mrs. Elliott is most thankful for the love and support of her husband, Scott, and her two adult children and three treasured grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Sandy Elliott has done much to further the greater good in Tennessee and has represented Wilson County well, and she is most deserving of our approbation; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRTEENTH
GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF
REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we commend and congratulate Sandy Elliott upon being named Ms. Wilson County Senior Tennessee 2023 and extend to her our best wishes for every continued success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
