SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 1493

A RESOLUTION to honor and congratulate Hamlet Halbert on the celebration of his ninety-first birthday.
WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly pay tribute to those citizens who are celebrating special occasions in their estimable lives; and WHEREAS, Hamlet Halbert celebrated his ninety-first birthday on March 28, 2024, a milestone that was commemorated as yet another precious souvenir of life's rich pageant; and WHEREAS, the son and grandson of physicians, Mr. Halbert was born in 1933 and grew up with five brothers and five sisters; in 1951, he graduated from Lebanon High School, where he played football; and WHEREAS, he also played football at Castle Heights Military Academy, where he
completed a postgraduate study, afterward serving his duty in the United States Army, and he
enjoyed a fruitful career as a farmer; and WHEREAS, in May 1967, he married the love of his life, Linda Rowe Halbert; the two were blessed with fifty-one years of companionship, until her passing in 2019; and WHEREAS, Hamlet and Linda Halbert had four children, Jason, who passed away at
birth, and Tom Halbert, Beth Halbert Pulley, and Tim Halbert; they were also the proud grandparents of five wonderful grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Hamlet Halbert attended First United Methodist Church in Lebanon, where his wife served for thirty-eight years as the director of Christian Education; and WHEREAS, as he continues in his 91st year of life, Mr. Halbert is the beloved patriarch of
his family whose wisdom and wit are admired by all who are fortunate to know him; and SJR1493

WHEREAS, we wish to grasp this golden opportunity to specially recognize one of
Tennessee's most outstanding citizens on this very special occasion; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRTEENTH
GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF
REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we hereby honor and congratulate Hamlet Halbert on the celebration of his ninety-first birthday and extend to him our best wishes for many happy returns of the day.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
