SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 1494

A RESOLUTION to honor and congratulate Wildlife Officer Montana Michelson upon his selection as the
2023 Boating Officer of the Year by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.
WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should salute those citizens who, through their extraordinary efforts, have distinguished themselves as community leaders of whom we can all be proud; and WHEREAS, one such noteworthy person is Wildlife Officer Montana Michelson of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, who is a professional of the greatest dedication, ability,
and integrity; and WHEREAS, Wildlife Officer Michelson has been selected as the 2023 Boating Officer of
the Year by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, a most befitting accolade that recognizes his dedication to safety and community as a law enforcement officer; and WHEREAS, his receipt of this prestigious honor recognizes his phenomenal work to
educate boaters, identify and remove impaired operators, and contribute to the safety of the citizens and visitors on our Tennessee waters; and WHEREAS, assigned to Sumner County, where he most frequently patrols Old Hickory Lake, Officer Michelson finished 2023 with an admirable number of accomplishments in boating safety, and he is known for assisting in any location or capacity; and WHEREAS, during 2023, he conducted 837 vessel inspections, logging 136 citations,
and twenty-three warnings while removing twelve impaired operators from Tennessee waterways and performing field-sobriety tests on another ten operators; and SJR1494

WHEREAS, Officer Michelson also worked marine events; assisted multiple boaters;
responded to and worked eight boating incidents, one of which resulted in a BUI arrest; assisted stranded juvenile duck hunters; and conducted six boating education events; and WHEREAS, no stranger to awards and accolades, Officer Montana Michelson has received the 2023 Donelson Chamber of Commerce 1st Responder Award and was nominated for the Operation Dry Water National Award; and WHEREAS, Officer Michelson has been applauded by his command staff for having an
exceptional work ethic, a positive attitude, and a commitment to boating safety through training and enforcement; and WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly find it appropriate to pause in their deliberations to acknowledge and applaud Officer Michelson for his exceptional service and his dedication to the State of Tennessee and its citizens; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRTEENTH
GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF
REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we hereby honor and congratulate Wildlife Officer Montana Michelson on being chosen as the 2023 Boating Officer of the Year by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, commend his exceptional service to the good people of Tennessee,
salute his professional expertise and personal excellence, and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.

the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
