SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 1487

A RESOLUTION to honor and recognize Home Federal Bank of
Tennessee on the occasion of its 100th anniversary.
WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly recognize those dynamic financial institutions whose contributions have been vital to the economic life of their respective communities; and WHEREAS, Home Federal Bank of Tennessee opened for business in 1924 and for the past century has capably served and earned the trust of customers throughout East Tennessee;
and WHEREAS, originally known as the Home Building and Loan Association, the institution was founded by a group of local businessmen that included Henry D. Blanc, Henry N.
Carmichael, Dan M. Chambliss, David C. Chapman, Adrian I. Chavannes, Willis P. Davis, R.M.
Doll, Weston M. Fulton, John T. Greene, John S. Henry, J. Leonard Jones, Cowan Rodgers,
William J. Savage, William Whaley, and Richard G. Wright; and WHEREAS, the founders set out with the singular mission of helping to create more homeowners, believing that homeowners were essential to stabilizing and improving the community; they operated under the simple philosophy of "invest in your community, and your community will invest in you"; and WHEREAS, the bank's first location was inside Knoxville's Hotel Farragut on Gay Street,
where it continued to do business for the next two decades, relocating to offices on Market Street in Knoxville in 1945; and WHEREAS, Home Federal Bank has enjoyed the insightful experience and guidance of
an exemplary slate of presidents over the years, including Weston M. Fulton, Joseph P. Gaut,

John T. O'Conner, William C. Walkup, David E. Sharp, Dale E. Keasling, and current president David J. Reynolds; and WHEREAS, the institution has also been fortunate to have the leadership of many extraordinary chairmen of the board throughout its history, including Joseph P. Gaut, Henry D.
Blanc, John T. O'Conner, Edward J Ashe, Harold L. Ernest, William C. Walkup, David E. Sharp,
and current board chairman Dale E. Keasling; and WHEREAS, currently boasting twenty branches across four counties, Home Federal Bank is one of the largest community banks in this State; over the course of its 100 years, it has grown from an organization with a relatively tiny $500,000 in assets to a bank with more than $2
billion; and WHEREAS, Home Federal Bank has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to
excellence for a century now, serving the people, families, and homeowners of East Tennessee with nothing less than the utmost professionalism and financial acumen; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRTEENTH
GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF
REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we honor and congratulate the leadership, board members, and employees of Home Federal Bank on the occasion of the institution's 100th anniversary, commend their unflagging commitment to quality and integrity, and extend to them our best wishes for much continued success in the future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
