SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 1436

A RESOLUTION to honor and commend Jeffrey "J.R." Russell for his service to the General Assembly.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate that the members of this General Assembly should pay special tribute to those estimable legislative employees whose commitment to excellence and dedication to public service have brought untold benefits to the citizens of the State of
Tennessee; and WHEREAS, J.R. Russell is one such individual, who began his legislative career as an intern for Senator Ken Yager during the 2021 session; and WHEREAS, he then worked briefly as a Senate clerk before being brought into the leadership fold as the Executive Legislative Assistant for Senator Yager, Chairman of the Senate Republican Caucus, in which position he provided high-level administrative support to
Senator Yager and his Senior Legislative Advisor; and WHEREAS, Senator Yager has sung J.R.'s praises as "a fantastic legislative assistant who was always willing to go above and beyond"; and WHEREAS, after three years with the Senate, Mr. Russell is now serving the General Assembly as the Legislative Internship Program Administrator; and WHEREAS, J.R. Russell earned his Associate of Science degree in Business Administration from Roane State Community College before attending Tennessee Technological University (TTU), where he served as a Student Orientation Assistant; and WHEREAS, J.R. earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from TTU in
2021 and is now pursuing a Master of Public Administration degree at Tennessee State University; and SJR1436

WHEREAS, on a personal level, he is a loving son and dedicated caretaker of his horse,
Arlo; and WHEREAS, a gentleman of great energy and resolve, J.R. is not afraid to lead chants of
"USA, USA, USA" to demonstrate his patriotism; and WHEREAS, clearly deserving of the respect, admiration, and commendation of this General Assembly, J.R. Russell has distinguished himself as a public servant of the highest order and should be specially recognized; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRTEENTH
GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF
REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we honor Jeffrey "J.R." Russell for his meritorious service to the General Assembly and extend to him our heartfelt wishes for every continued success in his new position.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
