HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 1357

A RESOLUTION to commend Cornell White for exemplary service as a legislative intern.
WHEREAS, each legislative session, this General Assembly is pleased to recognize certain persons who have committed themselves, through their adroit service, to the betterment of the legislative process; and WHEREAS, Cornell White is one such individual, who has distinguished himself in his role as a legislative intern for Representative Antonio Parkinson; Mr. White's work has resulted in innumerable benefits for the legislators he assisted and the General Assembly as a whole;
and WHEREAS, a senior at Tennessee State University, where he is highly regarded by his peers, Cornell White is a member of his school's Moot Court team and is pursuing a degree in
political science with a minor in general business; and WHEREAS, originally from the Midwest, Mr. White graduated from DePaul Cristo Rey High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 2020; during his high school years, he joined the Mock Trial team, which sparked his interest in the legal system. He aspires to obtain his law degree on his journey toward helping to end mass incarceration in the United States; and WHEREAS, aside from his many professional and academic accomplishments, Mr.
White is most grateful for the love and support of his family—his mother, Amber Hamilton White,
a retired English teacher; his father, Cornell White, a firefighter; and his twin sister, Hadiyah;
and WHEREAS, eager to familiarize himself with the characteristics and complexities of
Tennessee State government and to further his studies, Cornell White brought his many abilities HJR1357

and singular expertise to Capitol Hill for the 2024 session of the One Hundred Thirteenth General Assembly; and WHEREAS, throughout the 2024 legislative session, Mr. White has surpassed all criteria that define a devoted and conscientious legislative intern; and WHEREAS, Cornell White has performed his many duties with extraordinary insight and profound decorum; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
THIRTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
CONCURRING, that we hereby commend Cornell White for outstanding service as a legislative intern for Representative Antonio Parkinson and extend to him our best wishes for every future success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
