HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 1356

A RESOLUTION to commend Malik Abdullah for exemplary service as a legislative intern.
WHEREAS, each legislative session, this General Assembly is pleased to recognize certain persons who have committed themselves, through their adroit service, to the betterment of the legislative process; and WHEREAS, Malik Abdullah is one such individual, who has distinguished himself in his role as a legislative intern for Representative Antonio Parkinson; Mr. Abdullah's work has resulted in innumerable benefits for the legislators he assisted and the General Assembly as a whole; and WHEREAS, a student at Tennessee State University, where he is highly regarded by his peers, Malik Abdullah is pursuing a degree in political science; and WHEREAS, born in Nashville, Mr. Abdullah attended White Station Middle School and graduated from Power Center Academy, where he discovered his interest in law; and WHEREAS, aside from his many professional and academic accomplishments, Mr.
Abdullah is most grateful for the love and support of his parents, Hamid Abdullah and Candice Smoots; and WHEREAS, eager to familiarize himself with the characteristics and complexities of
Tennessee State government and to further his studies, Malik Abdullah brought his many abilities and singular expertise to Capitol Hill for the 2024 session of the One Hundred Thirteenth General Assembly; and WHEREAS, throughout the 2024 legislative session, Mr. Abdullah has surpassed all criteria that define a devoted and conscientious legislative intern; and HJR1356

WHEREAS, Malik Abdullah has performed his many duties with extraordinary insight and profound decorum; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
THIRTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
CONCURRING, that we hereby commend Malik Abdullah for outstanding service as a legislative intern for Representative Antonio Parkinson and extend to him our best wishes for every future success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
