SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 1417

A RESOLUTION to honor Bobby McWilliams on being named the
2024 Basketball Coaches Association of
Tennessee Class 3A Coach of the Year.
WHEREAS, it is fitting that this General Assembly should pay tribute to those excellent coaches who have led their teams to unprecedented success in athletic competition; and WHEREAS, Bobby McWilliams of the Upperman High School Bees boys' basketball team has been named the 2024 Basketball Coaches Association of Tennessee Class 3A Coach of the Year, a most befitting honor for a gentleman who has distinguished himself as one of the best in his profession; and WHEREAS, Coach McWilliams expertly led and inspired the Bees this season, as they rolled through District 7, Class 3A play with eight double-digit victories in nine district contests and then won the District 7 Tournament; and WHEREAS, under Coach McWilliams's leadership, Upperman won the Region 4
Tournament by defeating Marshall County, Stone Memorial, and Lawrence County in
succession and then topped South-Doyle in the sectional game to earn a bid to the TSSAA
Class 3A State Tournament; and WHEREAS, entering the state tournament on an eighteen-game winning streak, the Bees demolished Hume-Fogg by 20 points in the quarterfinals to reach the final four; and WHEREAS, Coach McWilliams and the Bees achieved the lofty status of 30 victories this season, finishing 30-5; and WHEREAS, Bobby McWilliams has distinguished himself as a great basketball coach,
tactician, and motivator of young men, and he should be appropriately recognized on this special occasion; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRTEENTH
GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF
REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we honor and congratulate Bobby McWilliams, head coach of the Upperman High School Bees boys' basketball team, on being named the 2024
Basketball Coaches Association of Tennessee Class 3A Coach of the Year and extend to him our best wishes for much continued success on the court and in life.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
