SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 1413

A RESOLUTION to recognize and congratulate Mike Glasgow upon being named the 2024 Tennessee 4-H
Salute to Excellence Volunteer of the Year Award winner for the U.S. Southern Region and the State of Tennessee Volunteer of the Year.
WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should salute those citizens who, through their remarkable efforts, have distinguished themselves as community leaders of whom we can all be proud; and WHEREAS, one such estimable individual is Mike Glasgow, who was recently named the 2024 Tennessee 4-H Salute to Excellence Volunteer of the Year Award winner for the U.S.
Southern Region and the State of Tennessee Volunteer of the Year, most befitting honors that recognize his outstanding dedication as a volunteer, coach, mentor, and friend; and WHEREAS, Mr. Glasgow is a level-two rifle instructor and serves the Cheatham County
4-H program as a shooting sports team volunteer at the county and state levels, encouraging young members' confidence, collaboration, and potential; and WHEREAS, under his astute leadership, shooting sports became one of Cheatham County's most popular programs; and WHEREAS, Mike Glasgow has been involved in 4-H since the fourth grade, showing beef cattle throughout his career; he enjoyed attending camps as a camper and as a teen leader, and each year, he ran the camp's rifle range; and WHEREAS, his success as an active member of the 4-H program led him to pursue further education at Vanderbilt University and Tennessee Technological University, and he
competed on the shooting teams of both schools; he is a retired engineer, and his experience has brought creativity and structure to all of his chosen endeavors; and SJR1413

WHEREAS, a renowned leader in 4-H and his community, Mike Glasgow conducts training classes and assists with shooting sports activities across the State, including Target SMART Camp and competitions; he also participates in the local air rifle and "On My Own"
programs and as a member of the State 4-H Shooting Sports Committee, which he joined in
2017; and WHEREAS, an inspiration to those who are fortunate to know him, Mr. Glasgow was instrumental in working alongside the National Rifle Association to obtain much-needed equipment for the county's program; and WHEREAS, his many professional accomplishments aside, Mr. Glasgow is most grateful for the love and support of his wife, Mary, his two children, and his two grandchildren; and WHEREAS, the success of this State, the strength of our communities, and the overall vitality of American society depend, in great measure, upon the dedication of people such as
Mike Glasgow, who use their considerable talents and resources to serve others and who should be specially recognized for their public and community service; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRTEENTH
GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF
REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we recognize and congratulate Mike Glasgow upon being named the 2024 Tennessee 4-H Salute to Excellence Volunteer of the Year Award winner for the U.S. Southern Region and the State of Tennessee Volunteer of the Year, extending our best wishes for much continued success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
