Senate Joint Resolution 979, sponsored by Southerland, recognizes Lakeia Comer for her outstanding contributions to her community and her recent receipt of the Morristown Task Force on Diversity MLK Community Award. This prestigious award was presented to her during the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Breakfast at First United Methodist Church in Morristown. Lakeia Comer, a Knoxville native and 2022 graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Social Work, has dedicated her career to enhancing the quality of life for others, serving as a certified family support specialist with TN Voices for the past three years.
In addition to her professional work, Comer has been actively involved in her community as a Girl Scout mentor for eleven years and a Lakeway CASA volunteer for over five years. The resolution highlights her commitment to diversity and community service, as well as her personal pride in her daughter, Cheyenne. The Senate and House of Representatives commend Lakeia Comer for her exemplary service and extend their best wishes for her future endeavors.
