House Bill 2062 establishes a street racing task force in Tennessee, aimed at studying and determining effective strategies to combat illegal street racing. The task force will consist of seventeen members, including representatives from the Tennessee Department of Safety, local police chiefs and mayors from six major cities, and appointees from the governor and legislative leaders. The task force is required to meet at least monthly, with the first meeting scheduled no later than August 1, 2024, and must report its findings and recommendations to the General Assembly by January 15, 2025, after which it will dissolve.

Additionally, the bill introduces the title "Jacob (Jake) T. Barnhardt Act" to the legislation. Members of the task force will serve without compensation but will be reimbursed for travel and other expenses incurred while performing their official duties, in accordance with state regulations. The task force will be administratively attached to the Department of Safety, and a quorum will consist of nine members.
