ON MARCH 11, 2024, THE SENATE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED SENATE BILL 2043, AS AMENDED.
AMENDMENT #1 revises the bill to provide that aggravated rape is unlawful sexual penetration of a victim by the defendant or the defendant by a victim when the defendant both (i) knows that the defendant is infected with HIV and (ii) transmits HIV to the victim.
ON APRIL 11, 2024, THE HOUSE SUBSTITUTED SENATE BILL 2023 FOR HOUSE BILL 2572, ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1, AND PASSED SENATE BILL 2023, AS AMENDED.
AMENDMENT #1 removes the requirement that the defendant transmits HIV to the victim.
