Present law prohibits the compensation for the board of directors of the Reelfoot Lake regional utility and planning district ("board") from exceeding $200 per month. This bill rewrites the present law and, instead, prohibits the compensation for the board from exceeding $400 per month.
This bill provides that, upon the adoption of a resolution by the members of the board of directors, the members of the board are entitled to the following:
(1) Members are entitled to participate in the group medical insurance plan and group life insurance plan provided to district employees;
(2) Members are entitled to reimbursement of premiums paid for equivalent or similar medical insurance coverage and life insurance coverage by the board member; so long as the premium payments do not exceed the per person cost of the medical insurance coverage and life insurance coverage that the district provides its own employees; or
(3) Members are entitled to reimbursement of premiums paid for medical insurance coverage by medicare and any medicare supplement insurance policy.

AMENDMENT #1 rewrites the bill to, instead, require that the amount fixed by the board of directors of the Reelfoot Lake Regional Utility and Planning District to compensate members of the board of directors for their services be $300 per month, instead of $200 per month.
