ON MARCH 25, 2024, THE SENATE ADOPTED AMENDMENTS #1 AND #2 AND PASSED SENATE BILL 2264, AS AMENDED.
AMENDMENT #1 rewrites the bill to, instead, provide that if a licensee is in good standing with the commission at the time the person's license is temporarily retired and, as a retiree, the person has not paid the license renewal fee as required, causing the license to lapse, then the person may reactivate the license upon the payment of all back renewal fees owed and any penalty imposed by the commission resulting from the lapsed license.
AMENDMENT #2 rewrites the bill and Amendment #1 to, instead, in reference to temporary retirement under the Tennessee Real Estate Broker License Act, authorize a licensee who is in good standing with the Tennessee real estate commission at the time the person's license is temporarily retired, who, as a retiree, has not paid the license renewal fee, causing the license to lapse, to reactivate the license upon completing (i) payment of all back renewal fees owed and any penalty imposed by the commission resulting from the lapsed license; and (ii) submission of proof of completion of all classroom hours in real estate courses that would have been required under state law if the licensee had instead maintained an active license during the period of temporary retirement.
